Half way there...

Technically I am exactly half way through my treatment today. Of course, it is highly unlikely I am at halfway point, but all the same, it deserves a little celebration. So we have a pic of uppers new #4 old #42 with the night time lower retainer. As you can see it's not much worse than an ordinary aligner though a little more cloudy. I also have a new big ass retangular attachment. The side view pics are shocking! One with the aligner, one without. I am very self-conscious of my smile at the moment for obvious reasons. And eek! I'm glad my teeth are getting cleaned in a few weeks. They do get nasty around all those attachments.

Congratulations on being past your halfway point, Lulu!

Asked one of my dental office staff who recently got her Essix type retainers how they differ from our regular Invisalign trays - she said they were only thicker. Hers don't go any further over the gums than her regular trays did. Maybe it depends on the office & how each does their trimming - some seem to go over onto the gumline quite a bit. Can't tell from your pics - do yours?

About the IPR comment you left on my blog - mine wasn't bad at all! It truly was a minor procedure - a mere blip in the treatment. I needed my first one to eliminate the wee black triangle that can appear once the gaps close tightly - just allows the teeth to fit together better.

I wouldn't worry about it all if you end up needing any at some point before you're done.

Soldier on :)

I don't think they go much over the gums. They did on the inside, but I got that trimmed off. I don't find it uncomfortable at all, and it is a little more noticible than regular aligners, but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't bother me at all.

I am soldiering...I can't remember life without these damn things! ;)

Hi Lulu, found you via Anne's blog. Nice to someone else suffering along with us! LOL. Looks like the new trays fit so much better, you must be much happier.

Hi Dawna!
Thanks for stopping by. Do you have a blog too? I'd love a link to it if that's possible. It's good to watch everyone's progress.

Hi Lulu,

Your teeth look like they're coming along nicely- congrats!

It's good that you've scheduled a check up with your dentist. I went in for my 6 month regular checkup/cleaning last week, and the dentist found 2 really small cavities. I was shocked, because I brush, floss, and rinse with fluoride 3 times a day! Because the cavities were so small, it took only 5 minutes to fill both of them, and it didn't affect how my aligners fit.

That's quite amazing. Such a progress is quite usual with Invisalign but this is truly amazing!
